What kind of footwear should I bring?
Choosing the right shoes for comfort and safety on land
This Article Applies to Expeditions On Board the Ocean Nova and the Ocean Victory
You will be fitted with rubber boots at the start of your expedition for use during Zodiac-to-shore landings. These boots are ideal for wet landings and general shore access.
However, for hiking on uneven or potentially wet terrain, we recommend bringing your own water resistant or waterproof hiking shoes. Footwear with good ankle support is especially helpful for comfort and stability on rough ground. Rubber boots do not provide adequate support for extended walks or hikes, so having proper footwear will help you stay comfortable and safe.
We also recommend bringing a closed-toe shoe that is comfortable to wear on board. Some entryways and corridors on the ship have raised thresholds, so sturdy footwear can help ensure steady footing while moving around the vessel.
