# Cash and card facilities in local communities
## What to expect regarding payment options in the communities we visit
*This Article Applies to all Adventure Canada Small-Ship Expeditions*
When we visit small, remote communities, card facilities are not always available. This means you might not be able to rely on your credit or debit card for purchases.
We highly recommend bringing sufficient local currency (cash) to make purchases, especially if you plan to buy souvenirs from gift shops or artisan markets. Access to ATMs can be unreliable or simply unavailable in these areas, so it's always best to come prepared.
